General Contractor AMG & Associates™ Reimagines Project Management Accounting and Builds Clamshell™ Software Application

When AMG & Associates, Inc, one of the largest public works general contractors in southern California, identified gaps in their project management accounting systems, they began looking for a new software solution to solve some challenges. After spending months with consultants and salespeople, they decided that the best path forward would be to build what they needed from the ground up. Before they knew it, the Clamshell construction project accounting application was born.

Albert Giacomazzi, President of AMG and Clamshell, Inc., is proud of the work, the development team, and is excited about the results. “Our systems were outdated, labor intensive, and prone to human error,” Giacomazzi explained. “We knew that our project management accounting processes wouldn’t be able to keep pace with our growth in the construction industry if we didn’t make improvements, and so we did, and the results have been incredible,” he added.

Giacomazzi commissioned Luke Brody, a Cal Berkeley graduate, to bring his vision of Clamshell to fruition. “Luke is a family friend who I knew had completed similar projects in the past. I knew he was sharp and I was just looking for the right place to make him a part of the team. I couldn’t be happier with his work and contributions,” Giacomazzi said.

Brody recalls his first conversation with Giacomazzi with enthusiasm, “I was excited right from the start after hearing his vision,” said Brody. “This was a big project with a lot of moving parts. We spent a great deal of time in the details thinking through every scenario that a general contractor or subcontractor may have during their project management accounting process, and of course the experience of the AMG team was invaluable,” Brody added.

What started as a super-charged spreadsheet program quickly became a far more all-inclusive application designed to help the construction industry with day-to-day project management accounting tasks. From real-time margin reports to 702/703 forms, Clamshell saves staffing time, reduces human error, and provides project insights at the click of a button. With an integrated email system, Clamshell lets the user quickly email forms, invoices, and change orders to all stakeholders. Fully based in the cloud, Clamshell is accessibly anywhere, from any device, with a connection to the Internet.

“When we started out we didn’t intend on building a software platform and offer it to the industry, but once it was completed, we realized had something special that solved several common challenges that contractors and subcontractors face in their day-to-day operations,” Giacomazzi said.

For a limited time, contractors and subcontractors can use the full version of Clamshell for free for the entirety of their first project, no matter how big or small. Visit this page to access the free trial.
